The first cryomodule has arrived at SLAC. Linked together and chilled to nearly absolute zero, 37 of these segments will accelerate electrons to almost the speed of light and power an upgrade to the nation’s only X-ray free-electron laser facility.
Using the powerful LCLS X-ray laser, researchers at SLAC have directly imaged for the first time how molecules rearrange during a chemical reaction controlled by light.
Christopher J. Tassone, PhD provides an overview of the research that SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory performed as part of the Bio-Optimized Technologies to keep Thermoplastics out of Landfills and the Environment (BOTTLETM) consortium.
The Chemical Science Division's areas of research strength include ultrafast chemical science at the PULSE Institute, and chemical catalysis at the SUNCAT Center.
