Answer: Please submit the volunteer registration form by Friday, Aug. 21. Anyone can sign up (no experience required.) A volunteer training session is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 11am-12pm. All volunteers will receive a free event T-shirt and refreshments.

Answer: This event is free to attend and open to all ages, but registration is required by Sept. 4. We anticipate tickets will run out quickly, so please register ASAP. You can register for yourself and up to four guests. For larger groups, submit an additional form.

Answer: Registered, SLAC-badged employees and their accompanying registered guests (“accompanying” means guests either in the car with the employee or in the car immediately behind the employee) must use the Alpine Gate only. Employees will not be allowed access from the Main Gate. Employees and their accompanying guests can start arriving at 12:30 pm at the Alpine Gate.

Answer: Event volunteers will receive information about scheduling as we approach the event. Volunteers who do not have a SLAC badge must enter through the Main Gate and be prepared to present their volunteer entry pass and REAL ID to the Security staff. Volunteers with an active SLAC badge must use the Alpine Gate only. Employees will not be allowed access from the Main Gate. 

Answer: Event attendees with no SLAC badge can only use the Main Gate and should be prepared to present the event entry pass and REAL ID to Security staff. Entry will be allowed starting at 12:45 pm.

• Locate your registration confirmation email (from “noreply@order.eventbrite.com”  with the subject line “Order Confirmation for 2026 STEM Community Day at SLAC”) 
• Press the “Go to my tickets” button. This will take you to the Eventbrite page with your order details (if you do not have an account, you may be prompted to create an account or you can click “email me a login link”). 
• On the left-hand side of the page, there is a button that says “Cancel Order.” Select this button, and a pop-up window should appear asking you if you are sure you want to cancel your order. If the window does not appear, please ensure your browser has pop-ups enabled. 
• Press the “Yes, cancel this order” button. You will receive an email confirming your cancellation. If you have any questions, email communityday@slac.stanford.edu.

Answer: The deadline for registration is September 4th. After this date or when we reach capacity, whichever comes first, we will announce a waitlist. Those without event tickets may not be admitted to the event. SLAC-badged staff will be allowed onsite, but event activities and giveaways may not be available to those without event tickets.

Answer: Each registered guest aged 17 or younger will receive one event shirt, while supplies last. Some small prizes will also be available at various activity stations on a first-come, first-served basis.

Answer: There are two tour locations: Klystron Gallery Visitors Alcove and LCLS FEH. The tour schedule will be posted on our website approximately 1 week before the event. 

Answer: The event is open to all ages. Some demos will have age suggestions to participate so it will be up to parent/guardian discretion. Some tours are designed for those 7 years of age and above, and some are designed for those 12 years of age and above. Individuals 17 years old and younger are welcome, but a parent or a legal guardian must register for them and join the minor for the entire duration of the tour. 

Answer: Pre-registration is not available to attend a tour. Tours have limited availability and will be offered on a first-come first-served basis. You will need to wear closed-toed shoes to join the tour.

Answer: When you arrive at SLAC, you will be directed to parking locations. Please anticipate a walk of up to ~10 minutes from the parking location to the event check-in location.

Answer: No, staff and guests are required to stay in the designated event areas. 

Answer: The event takes place primarily outdoors. We strongly suggest guests wear layers and bring hats, sunscreen and water. If you are planning to join a tour, you will need to wear closed-toed shoes. 

Answer: Guest check in will be located in front of the Science and User Support Building (SUSB) near the main entrance to SLAC.

Answer: For any child who will be age 3 or younger on September 12, 2026 , registration is not required. Reminder: participants who are age 17 or younger must be chaperoned by a parent or guardian at all times while at SLAC. 

Answer: Each registered attendee will receive 1 ticket for a free cotton candy or kettle corn. Three food trucks will be at the event; Mexican and American menu items, as well as shave ice, will be available for purchase. All food is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Water bottles will be available for free while supplies last.
