A battery walks into a bar...

Presented by Johanna Nelson Weker

X-ray vision might sound like the stuff of superheroes and science fiction, but at SLAC’s Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL) it’s what allows scientists to peer inside batteries and see what makes them tick. Join us for SLAC on Tap at the Old Pro in Palo Alto where PBR (Pushing the Battery Revolution) expert Johanna Nelson Weker will share how she and other researchers use X-ray microscopy to reveal the inner workings of lithium ion batteries and find out how changes to their structure and chemistry ultimately lead to their failure. Have a drink, learn about battery research and stick around after the talk for some trivia, giveaways and the chance to build a battery with beer.

About Johanna Nelson Weker
