Jeney Wierman at SSRL

Jeney Wierman stands in the control room of SSRL. She, along with other members of the Structural Molecular Biology team, returned onsite when SLAC reopened for Covid-19 related research. They support three beamlines, 12-1, 12-2 and 9-2, which are dedicated to helping research from all over the world, creating 3D atomic-resolution shapes of various SARS-CoV-2 related proteins. Scientists can ship samples of the viral proteins to SLAC, and get detailed structures of these proteins with X-Ray Crystallography. This information is crucial to developing vaccines and drug treatments for COVID-19.
