As the massive LSST camera project reaches its culmination, Hannah Pollek is one of the engineers in the clean room each day putting the pieces together.
The LSST camera integration and testing team inserted a raft of nine imaging sensors into the body of the ComCam. This miniature version of the LSST camera will be used for telescope commissioning. Check out photos of this and other recent activity from the LSST camera clean room.
The LSST cryostat, now fully assembled, will keep the camera’s image sensors continuously cooled to minus 150 degrees Fahrenheit for crisp, high-sensitivity views of the night skies.
